I have one of these 940s, and its a great small knife. The blade shape is awesome, it slices very well, and fits my hand allright.

But I think that if they made a larger version with say a 4" blade it would be awesome. I think such a version would fit in my hand better and even with the increased size not be that much heavier. Keeping the same edge geometry and blade design and it would be just as good as the 940 in a large knife role.

So what do you think?

the 940 is the emerson design BM, right?? if so they do make a 4", or about a 3.8, the 975. actually the DID make one. now EKI is coming out w/the super CQC7, already have the I&I tanto, both around 4".

nope, not an emerson design.warren osborne is the designer i believe.

I think the 940 is the perfect size for its intended design, which seems to be a hybrid of gentleman's knife/tac folder. It fits my hand perfectly, and I have fairly large hands (AFCK fits me just about right).

I agree. I classify the 940 (my own classification system) as an Office Every Day Carry (OEDC) or an Every Day Utility which is a knife I carry in addition to an EDC when outside the office. The OEDC and EDU classes of knives are those that fit most tasks and don't scare sheeple in the office or in public.

A bigger 940 would be a true EDC in my opinion and would be outclassed by knives such as the AFCK, 710, 520 and various other brand name knives.

I have the 940 and my girlfriend has the 941, she uses it for EDC I use mine as a second backup knife. I love how it fits my hand and would like a larger one as well, in maybe 4.5" length. Is that too much to ask for?:D

I was using my 940 today to cut up one of those huge bagel ring sandwiches that you can get when you have a ton of people to feed. It wasn't long enough to do it easily.;)

I disagree with the comment about a larger 940 having no place with knives such as the AFCK and 710. It is a different design. And I really like that reverse tanto on it, I think its is a very usefull blade design.

Now that's what I'm talking about. 4-inch, 4.5-inch, 5-inch, or 5.5-inch, it's all good.
