Larger folding scout knives

I love the folding scout pattern, and have the Victorinox Farmer, Remington R 4, and an Ulster. However, the handles seem too short and I'm looking for a larger model of the pattern-something about the length of the Victorinox Trekker.

Can you recommend anything? I'm aware of the Remington camp knife R4243 and the GEC Texas camp knife, but looking for something in the 4 1/8 to 4 1/4 range.

Thanks for your comments.

Kevin

That is pretty large. I believe all the ones made in the Queen factory are only 3 5/8 inch closed, so they are of no help.

Don't know how available they are or what they cost, or if another run is planned, but there is Waynorth's "Texas Camp Knife".

Why not just get a Vic Trekker? I have one, great knife for all occasions. All the tools of a regular scout knife plus some and it is a OHO.

The GEC #54 pattern would be perfect, an equal end at 4.1" closed with half stops.

Get some investors together and run an SFO.

Issard, 13cm closed.

I'd also recommend a Vic Trekker, or really any of the 111mm Victorinox tools.

They have a variety of one handed and two handed opening knives, some with and without locks.

IMO,GEC #98 Texas Camp Knife is too large and heavy for me to carry with every day.Maybe just as the name tells us,it's for camping, not for EDC.
Therefore I am seriously considering the possibility of making a SFO for GEC #98 in a smaller size,4 1/8 inches closed sounds good. But not sure if GEC will agree or not in the future.

Thank you all for your responses. I should have mentioned in the original post that I do have a Victorinox Trekker.

It's a great knife; I'm just looking for something more traditional looking. I like the Texas Camp Knife, but do think it's too large for every day carry. Will check into all of your recommendations. I like the one Buzzbait suggested: the Camillus Classic Cartidge Series CCC-7.

Thanks again,
Kevin

Buzz hasn't gotten back to this thread, but I've got a Camillus CCC7; it measures 4-7/8", and the main blade from tip to frame is 3-1/2" long. They're the same size as the GEC 98 pattern. Camillus also made the Remington R4243 for them, and the CCC7 is just that knife with jigged bone covers instead of delrin.

Yeah. The CCC-7 is as big as the Texas Camp Knife. I you really want something that's an order of magnitude larger than your average scout knife, but not gigantic like the Texas Camp Knife, I'd recommend that you track down an old Case 6445R on auction. They're pretty easy to come by on the aftermarket. It's like the big brother to your average scout. Far more robust and hand filling than a typical scout knife. Carbon steel blades. Beautiful jigged bone. Easy to spot because of the can opener.

In the picture below, the Case 6445R is on top. The middle knife is an average Case scout (manufactured by Camillus). The bottom is a modern Case Jr Scout.

Buzzbait,
The Case 6445R looks like what I'm looking for. Thanks for that information!
