Larger knives on your keychain, anyone else?

Today I tried something different and I thought it worked well, well enough I plan on keeping it anyway...

The manbug ZDP and LBHB I rotated on my keys were great as a worst-case "walked out with out a knife and need to cut something" knife but other than that I never really used them, they're just to small to hold on to. The dfly offers enough handle and blade to actually be useful without taking up to much pocket space, today was day one but I really liked it and the way I have it on its own aircraft cable keychain its easy to get off and use whenever I need it.

Does anyone else carry a larger knife on their keys? If so what and how do you like it? Before I choose the dfly I thought about using my Rat-2 and clipping my keys to my belt loop but that's never been my style, I really prefer my keys in my pocket and the rat-2 was just a little big for that so I ended up with the dfly ZDP and I think its the right choice, I doubt my Manbug will get used much anymore.

The D-Fly looks a good fit... That said, why does it have to be on the keychain? What's wrong with a pocket clip, suspension clip, or even a good ol' traditional freefloating in the pocket?

Always liked the aesthetics of a knife. Having a bunch of keys dangling from it kind of spoils that facet.

If you like it and it works for you go for it though.

I don't have any knives on my keychain at the moment.
I have never tried any knives either, but I do regularly carry a small leatherman squirt multitool on my keys with great enjoyment. But to add a knife to the squirt would have to be something quite small to keep weight and pocket space down. I tried out a pill fob but found it pretty much useless, so I got rid of the pill fob and usually stick to the squirt and a pry tool. To add a knife to that would complete my cycle of redundancy since the squirt has both knife and screwdriver for prying.
To be honest I have had my eye on a Manbug ZDP for quite some time as a keychain knife. If you decide to maybe let go of either of your old keychain knives (lbhb or manbug especially) let me know and maybe we can work something out.

I have a Kershaw scallion that I was thinking of doing the exact same thing with not long ago. It would replace the tiny black Gerber on my keyring now...not sure of the model but it held a fair edge for quite a bit.

I used to put my keys in my pocket after clipping to my belt but haven't lately, I will try now for sure!

Do those aircraft cable loops secure well? Never used one, mayhap I'll try if I know I won't lose a small gem somewhere along the way.

I think your almost to the point where your keys are on your knife, not a knife on your keys :p

I keep my keychain as light and small as possible. I've got a simple split ring, two keys and a tiny flashlight. I tried some other things and found it uncomfortable in my pocket.

I don't like alot of stuff on my keys kinda less is more approach everything else is in my pockets.

I carry multiple other knives clipped to my pockets, the whole point of a knife on my keys is so that it's physically impossible for me to go anywhere without at least that one knife. For example if I were sleeping and get a phone call concerning some sort of family emergency and I have to [literally] jump out of bed and run out the door, this way I'll still have a knife even in worst case scenarios.

I have a Spyderco Manbug ZDP-189 on my keychain just like I have a cell battery flashlight on there -- as backups. I still carry a regular folder with clip and a 123 battery flashlight as primaries. Two is one and one is none. Also, it's a good idea to keep your car keychain light since "excess weight" can damage the ignition switch.

I don't know about the threaded screw together connector style (I've heard less than stellar reports on that style) but I've been using these particular ones and they are extremely secure and are actually capable of holding at least 15lbs. I use these to hold wrenches together, hold stuff hanging from my work bench, around the farm and in the garage, these specific ones are great and another thing is they don't fray and stick your fingers like the bare ones can.

Now THAT is a keychain knife!

Just a sak on my car/house keys. I always have a knife or two and a multi tool on me so i don't really need a small knife on my keys. The sak is enough blade and extra tools. Can't clip your nose hair with a Dragonfly at a red light.

The biggest and only real knife i ever tried putting on my key-chain was a victorinox explorer. Mainly as a multi-tool to know i have some capabilities aside from cutting.

SOG Knives just came out with their Key Knife for just $12.95:

I carry a Spyderco Grasshopper on my keychain, and that's about as big as I'll go.
