Perhaps impossible to fathom, outside of the "industry loop." But if any of you were to hazard a guess - does CRK produce, and sell more - Sebenza 21's or 25's? Can't decide which one I prefer. Enjoy the beefier blade, better handling (to me) finger cut outs, and general robustness of the 25. But certainly respect the heritage; simplicity, and understated elegance of the 21. Thanks in advance for your thoughtful replies...Cheers.

Verrry interrresting question, my friend. I can't decide which one I prefer - so I own and carry both. Not simultaneously, of course...;-)

No wonder they haven't eliminated it in favor of the 25. Nice to have both choices. Any speculation on how popular is the Zaan? I have one inbound. Also own two 21's; a 25 and more Busse's than most think a sane man should possess. Does this never end?...;-)

25 does not have the bushing pivot which means it's going to require more attention when it comes to finding the perfect blend of centering and ease of opening. You have to use loctite to keep the screws from backing out and upsetting the alignment and setting. With the 21, you just screw it down and you are done. No need to tinker or worry abut screws loosening. You can jam the screws down as tight as you want or as loose as you want. It will be centered and slide out easily. With the adjustable pivot on the 25, you will need a prybar to get the blade to open if the screws are too tight. The 25 is not a beefed up sebenza 21. It's a totally different design. If the idea of adjusting the pivot is not to your liking, I would get the 21. Adjustment-free. Simple. Fire and forget. Close it and youre done.

Yes, I have both. Have disassembled, and tinkered with the 21, and as you state, very simple to accomplish. Haven't fooled with the 25 yet. Thanks for the comment!...;-)

In my opinion nothing designed by anyone beats out the old Large Regular Sebenza. The 21 & 25 are nice and the 21 is pretty close to the old regular while the 25 is quite a bit different. I too like the thicker blade and feel of the 25. Right now though I will go with the 21 for simplicity and options. With the 21, you get inlays, both wood and mammoth, Damascus, UG/CGG, Insingo and tanto blades. With the 25 you get now available Damascus and some simple UG. There is a micarta inlay, but I personally don't like the look of it. So between the 2 you mentioned, I will take the 21, even though I carry my old plane Jane 25 more than the others now a days.

Thanks nyefmaker. You've been a Reeveman a lot longer than I it appears. Although I did see the utility and quality of the Jereboam that I purchased in 1987(?). Used it when I used to camp, and still have it. Will be joined by more than a few Sebenza's...;-)

There are so many more options available now for the 21 that most will have more than one for variety. The 25 still only has a few options available. So if you had two it would a considerable percentage of those available. But much less signifiant if the same were said for the 21.

Anyone care to speculate on how the Zaan has been received and selling?...;-)
