Until about 10 years ago there was a knife shop in the Valley Fair mall in Santa Clara (not King of Knives which is there today). They had a giant multiblade display knife which I believe was made in Italy. It was perhaps 8 or 9 inches long folded and 3 inches thick with stag scales. I don't remember how many blades there were, but there must have been at least 2 or 3 dozen of the usual assortment of cutting blades and other utensils. At the time I had a Swiss Champ which was hopelessly outclassed by this monster.

When I heard that the shop was closing and having an "everything must go" sale, I ran over to make an offer on that knife but I was told one of the employees had already bought it (I ended up spending over $300 that afternoon anyway!).

What company would have made such a knife? And other than that 1900 blade Swiss Army knife, would this have been the largest ever made?

That was simply a display knife used
to get attention. Many times put in
the window to entice customers inside.
Many knifemakers made them, mainly from
1900 to 1960's.

you can buy a opinel display knife for around 59 dollars, its 11" closed, but only has one blade. frost makes a display whittler, and stockman I think they are around 8, 9"s closed??? but they are not exactly "high quality".

Fight'n Rooster created a 100 blade knife. It was really quite an engineering feat. All the blades were different and operated great. It is really something to handle and admire. I believe they made about 3 of them.
