Anyone carries the largest size Vics for EDC? (like the Rucksak). A friend of mine has bought one for EDC use but to me it looks too bulky (unless of course you have very big pockets). Also, any opinions on the Vic blade locks? (both side locks and linear locks) Are they as good as on a lockback knife? Which is best, side or linear lock? (Rucksak has side lock while the Nomad and Parachutist have linear locks)

I received a Fireman model as a gift a couple of years back. It is a great knife and I like the side sliding lock on it. It doesn't fit in the "knife pocket" (right front pants pocket) very well though, and since I typically tote a multi tool in a belt sheath, I don't have room for it on the belt. I know some guys where 3 or 4 sheaths of some sort or the other at a time, but 1 sheath and a phone case are plenty in my opinion. Anyway, I like my knife, but haven't found a good way to tote it. I guess if I ever quit wearing a multi tool then I could put in a sheath.

There's news on this front: Victorinox has introduced new belt pouches with belt clips that swivel, allowing carry in vertical, horizontal, or in-between positions. They look nice - I'm about to "road test" one for my OHF and I think it's going to work very well for me. Tim at "FelineVet" (see www.sosakonline.com) will have them soon (he's the primary person I purchase Vic items from because the profits go to help provide medical care for cats whose owners can't afford to get them treated).

I started carrying a Vic Workchamp about a month ago and was surprised at the whole thing. I had thought the whole knife would be too bulky and cumbersome for carry, but it proved rather easy to haul around in a pocket (ordering the pouch later, just preference....I am one of those people with three or four pouches on a belt).

The lock was secure for anything I wanted to do. I was uncomfortable with it at first, but that wore off after a couple of days of food prep, opening boxes and the general EDC duties. The button on the side seemed to require a directed force to push it down to disengage. That is, a hand around the lock while in use did not disengage the blade as I cut.

To me, neither the button lock or liner lock is better than the lock back. But, the locks for the 111 mm SAK's are great for the intended use of those knives. Hope this helps.

About the largest I carry is my OHT or SwissChamp. Both of these are usually carried in my left rear pocket. I'm trying to come up with a "pocket holster" for them. I'll let you all know if it turns out;)

I carried a Champ in my pocket for a few years, lasted a lot better than the pockets! Now a Swisstool for work in a sheath. Miss the sissors.....

I carried an old Centurian in a nylon sheath for several years. I liked the side lock and the matte handles. Stopped carrying it when I started working indoors, found it too big for my pocket. Switched to a matte Tinker which is my EDC. I do wish that it had a sidelock at times.

Update - I REALLY like the new Vic pouch described above. I have been carrying my OHF (One Hand Fireman) all day in one, and it's been much more pleasant than with previous Vic pouches.

Another vote here for Tim AKA FelineVet. He's definitely one of the Good Guys — not just a kind-hearted soul who helps animals in need, but a serious knife knut who sells SAKs of all sorts at damn good prices.

As for those sheaths, I gotta try one for my One-Hand Trekker!

I carry my OH Bundeshwehr using a loop at my belt and hook to the keyring to keep it vertical in my pocket.

And yes, agree, Tim is great!
You've got to check his discontinued Vic collection for sale ..

Oh boy, I really like this new pouch. I'm writing a review about it, which I'll post on the SOSAK forum soon over at KF.
