Any opinions on this one? Any idea who makes it? Could it be LaRue themselves? They are known for machining all of their AR components and do phenomenal work. I have one of their rifles and they are world class. Expensive though. Don’t know if this knife is just a run of the mill, overpriced tactical knife or something special. What does the Bladeforum brain trust think?

The listing implies that LaRue made it themselves. Call them and ask them. Think for yourself and decide if you like it. It doesn't matter if other people approve it or not.

Yes, I’m interested if they made this themselves. Will I buy this? I don’t know, $400 is steep and you wouldn’t believe how many knives I own that are similar to this one. But, I’d be very impressed if in fact LaRue actually made this one in-house

I noticed that several of their Larue brand products specifically say "Made in the USA" on them, and in the ads it says "Made in-house, in Texas, in the USA". But the knife doesn't say "Made in the USA", or "USA", nor does the ad say anything about where they are made.

The fact that they don't say where it's made is suspicious, and would lead me to believe China, or maybe Taiwan.

I don't necessarily have anything against knives made in those countries, but $400 for a knife that might be made in China is not my idea of a good deal.

The knife looks decent enough, with a good steel (S30V), but the steel is a bit outdated. S30V was big about 20 years ago. $400 seems pretty pricey for S30V.

But hey, you get a free hat ($30 value). $30? Must be one hell of a hat 😁.

Had to laugh a bit at the description of the choil- "especially useful when placing a finger forward of the quillion to remove the blade from stubborn objects (like a skull)" 🤣 .

That’s my feeling as well. There are ton of great Taiwanese made knives for less than half of what this costs. I would personally get a Work Tuff Gear for $200 and call it a day. But if this is made in house, in small batches, I would at least give it a second look. I’m going to call them tomorrow and find out, just because I’m curious. In the meantime, I’ll have to settle for this for my next special ops to the supermarket 😵‍💫

Seriously doubt it's even made in the USA .

They are selling this pretty hard in the listing , hyping some trivial details .

If it was even USA , why wouldn't they crow about that ? Huge selling point for their customer base .
Good point. They make a big deal about everything being made in-house and no mention of it here. You’d think that would be the first thing they mentioned or even a US based knife maker.

Company says all in house at their factory -

.

Right at the beginning, so you don't need to scroll around.
Good find! Well, that answers that. I’m now a little more impressed. Everything they machine is just spot on. I have one of their rifles as I mentioned and also a number of their optics mounts. As good as it gets. Not sure I’ll spring for this knife though. Anyone want to try it and let us know? 😃

Just read a little more on it, nothing huge, but the production specs they're hoping for are around 80/week till they get tired of making them.
