Hi,

Started getting into folders. Anyone know who does laser cutting or CNC milling in small quantities.

Thanks!

good luck in small quantities they will want you to buy thier machine for them..:)
quantities of 3-4 hundered they'll talk to yeah
one or two I think you can get them done for like 75.00-100.00 each piece
if I remember right. water jetting would be a bit less money, some place other than Maine

Depends on how elaborate the cut is and how many you want of each part.If you are sure of the shapes and sizes (have made several and got the bugs out) talk to Admiral or one of the other companies.Another possible way would be if there is a University with a school of engineering/technology near you. Many have top notch laser cutters, and teach the science to tech/engineering students. They lease the time on the machine to the students for training and projects. You may find a student who is glad for you to provide the sheet stock and pattern pieces. They will digitalized the parts and cut them to learn ,you will save a bundle on cutting costs. It is even possible, if you find the right professor (on who loves knives?), you could have your blades done as instruction.

Les Halpern does waterjetting now. No idea what he charges. For the record, you'd be better off buying a decent grinder for the price you'd pay in waterjetting. You'd still have some form of cleanup, so better off just making a pattern and hogging to profile it.

I have a co that cut alot of mine with a water jet, get them done for about 5 to $7 bucks a piece. They are in AZ, if anyone is interested.

Frank at how many at a time and is there a set up fee?
yes I'm interested:D

Dan,

No set up fee and I have done as little as five at a time. I am the only maker they cut for right now, have had no problems. To confirm though, this price is for cutting only, not steel. They are a bit slow, but I just stay ahead by a month and its no issue. I can give you a name and number if you like.
