Laser Etch Rust (any way I can get rid of it?)

The laser etching on my 16 is starting to get a bit of oxidization, I oil it regularly but its just really hard to keep oil contact on the etching (especially in the stock sheath) and its bothering my knife-ocd. Any way I can get rid of it easy? I'm probably going to strip it soon so its not a big deal but If anybody has a quick fix or prevention tips for other tweener owners they would be appreciated.

p.s. does anyone else have this issue or am I being a bad tweener parent?

Mine has done this. I just clean it up with oil and fine steel wool.

Good idea, here I was trying to get in there with emery paper and a toothpick

#000 or #0000 will work great. If you don't have any, try toothpaste and a brush.

Oil when finished to protect the exposed metal.

Try some flitz or other metal polish.

After you done removing it use petroleum jelly to protect it till you strip it.

Once you are done patina it. A good patina keeps rust from forming very nicely.
