Laser etched logos

This has probably been discussed already so I apologize in advance but how long have Beckers had white laser etched logos? I've been really wanting to pick up a BK2 lately but I'd like to get one with a stamped logo (though in the end it doesn't matter) but I was just curious if new/unused BK2s were with the older stamped logos are harder to get now or if they're still fairly common. If I were to get a BK2 on Amazon, what is the likelyhood of getting a stamped version.

I bought my BK2 about 3 months ago, and it had the laser etching. I suggest you contact the retailer and see which version they have or buy one on BF. I'd venture to guess that most have made the transition at this point.

Thanks for the reply. Like I said I would prefer a stamped logo BK2 but it doesn't matter in the end. I know my local knife store has a stamped version but they also want $95 plus tax for it. I emailed Tomars Ka-bars to see if they had any stamped versions the other day but haven't heard back yet. I'll probably just end up going with Amazon though cause $60 shipped for a BK2 regardless of the logo is a great deal as far as I'm concerned.

If you want to remove some of the coating without removing the laser etching, you can always do a two-tone thing:

Could be just the luck of the draw. I bought a BK-2 from the river store and it was laser etched. Then I bought a BK-7 a week later from the same place and it was stamped. All the Beckers that I bought from Tomar's were laser etched. Good luck.

I doubt I'll strip the finish off. I want to let the finish wear off naturally with use, I just like the look of stamped logos better but it's not a biggie. Other than etched logos and a slightly rougher finish, are there any other differences between a 1st and 2nd gen Beckers?

No the stamp and the coating is the only difference. You can probably find one in the exchange if you want a stamped one. I would guess that most of the big retailers have the new BK2's by now as it its the top seller.
