I saw a military at one of our local outdoor stores this weekend and there was no etching on the blade, There was a little spyder on the black clip. This knife appeared to be the real thing with the absence of the etching. Any thoughts

Thanks for the reply Sal! The knife was quite a beauty, but I probably will order one plain edge with the etching intact. I saw one at S&R knives in Toronto & kicked myself for not picking it up.

Hmmm... I wish that I had seen that sterile Military. The etching on the blade is actually keeping me back from buying one. It just annoys me, and it seems kind of "wannabe" to be carrying a knife around with "Military" or "Police Model" inscribed on the blade.

It's not as bad as some Cold Steel models (particularly the "El Hombre". Very stupid name, and to top it off, it was etched in HUGE letters on the blade that I saw, along with a picture of some coyboy-type! My buddy asked me how hard it would be to remove, and actually didn't buy the knife when I said "impossible!") I say let's get more sterile. Etching sucks and so does engraving for that matter.

I probably would have bought it but the blade was serrated. Still waiting to get a Plain edge one though
