Laser Strike?

I think I remember reading a while back that there might be a Rowen manufactured version of the venerable Laser Strike. Is that project still in the works? The Laser Strike has been somewhat of a grail for me. I was too young to have enough cash for one when they were in production and really wouldn't have known a decent knife if it didn't say Ka-Bar on the side. I would love to have another shot at one.

I think Jeff said they were considering bringing it back. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for it because the RAT guys have their hands full for the time being, but I'm sure we'll see it along with some other models that they're cooking up.

I was correct here's the link.

They are not made anymore at the present time. We plan on bringing the model back out though.

Great topic! I almost forgot about this discussion a while back. I too missed the boat on the Laser Strike. I'd love to see it reborn. A spear point RAT would be awesome!

I haven't been around long enough to know the history of the Laser Strike, all I see is the simple RAT logo on the TOPS knife.

For me, the Laser Strike caught my fancy just about the time that I realized that you don't need a huge stainless knife with a saw back and a hollow handle for outdoor pursuits. The bowdrill divet was such a neat little feature and the handle seemed to be just about perfect. The best part was the blade shape! That curvy spear point looked like something Horace Kephart would carry today if he was still with us. I knew I had to have one but it was discontinued by the time I found out about it and long gone by the time I could afford one.

I'm going on a hunger strike until the Laser Strike arrives or until lunch time... which ever comes first. :D

Just checked out the rat site. I like the Laser Strike, what are the specs on that compared to the RC4?

The Laser strike was 10" OAL ,3/16th" ,5" blade with Micarta scales.

Interesting I'll have to spend some time on google images. you forgot the HEST too btw. I was on Newt Livesay's website earlier this month, anyone know how the quality of his RTAK is?

I did not forget the HEST , Jeff has yet to add it to the history page yet...
The Livesay RTAK is awesome more like a Machete (about 375 were made ) than the RTAKII is a chopper,I had the Livesay version and let it go.... it had some of the most comfy micarta scales I ever felt. here is a picture of the livesay RTAK I had

This knife has been on my list for awhile. I still have my Livesay RTAK. Never used it

Can one still get their hands on one? how are the fit and finish? I have a few of his knives on my want list, they are very reasonably priced. Shon is going to be a very busy man, he is going to have to double the size of his shop. An Izula folder, RC10, Rat Pack knife, and now the Lazer Strike in the works. Holy man!

I haven't seen a Laser Strike for quite some time, even on the used market.
