Hi there! Yesterday I wanted somehow to greet “my” mountains, reflect and give thanks for the time gone, the life lived, before the end of this year :).

Wife and children got a bit lazy with the Christmas holidays, as bear cubs, have gone somehow in hibernation :D. So I decided to take a short trip all by myself in a nearby valley here, taking advantage of the few days off for the holiday season. These days Milan and the plain are smothered by fog and smog, they even put up restrictions on car traffic. An excellent opportunity to breathe a bit of fresh air and see the sun rise. Dawn is really a magic moment. It’s a strange winter, no snow at all yet, though temperatures went down and the little waterfalls of mountain brooks are completely frozen, creating some natural art pieces. Rarely happened to me to climb up here without snowshoes or crampons in this season. Knife with me the Spider Monkey, this thing has really took a place in my pocket, love it :).

Some pictures, just to share. Wish you well for the New Year!

Beautiful mountains you have! That first photo really captured the magic of dawn that you described. Thanks for sharing!

They live high in the mountains .There aren't very many of them and make for difficult hunting in those mountains !

Thanks again Herlock

Herlock, great photos as usual from you. One quick question, in the photo of the small village, looks cold and wondering what is the main source for heating those houses? Thanks, John

Happy New Year to you! And thank you very much for taking the time to photograph and share your country's scenery with us. I've never wanted to visit Italy until seeing your pictures.

Nice pics! Reminds me of when I went to Northern Warfare School near Folgaria in the 80's. Someday I'll visit Italia again!
