Today was the last day I'll get in the forge until Christmas. I will get a little finishing time, but no forging or major grinding. I will work at the store for the next 22 days.I had a good day, finished off a big batch.I'll start getting the handles on and get everything that is not a Christmas order ready to finish on the 26th.Here is a picture of today's work. Most of these I started last week. Merry Christmas to all.

I got tired just looking at how much work you did. :o

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Stacy! :)

Good gravy that's a lot of blades! One of these days I want to just watch you work to see how you do it all so fast...

Have fun with the holiday rush! Just make sure you take a LITTLE time for yourself every now and again.

You started last week? That's six months worth of work at my pace!
As deker stated, don't forget to take care of the maker!!!

Best holiday wishes!

Holy Smokes Stacy !! That's some really great lookin work there. What type of "store" do you have ? Merry Christmas to you & yours also Stacy , fitzo , deker , dewey , flatgrinder & all who hang out here :)

I am a goldsmith. I work at two stores. This time of year - one Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The other Tuesday,Friday,Sunday. At home,I work on presents for friends and family in the evenings. That is enjoyable,so it allows me to relax a bit.It has been a family tradition for me to make handmade gifts for nearly 30 years. Sometimes they don't arrive until mid-January,but no one minds.I will make jewelery, wood carvings, make knives, boxes, furniture, wine bottle openers, leather items, etc.
When I had my own store,I used to go to work on the 20th and come home on the 25th.Now I still work a lot at Christmas, but when I go home, the work stays at work.
Our anniversary is the 26th. It was the only day I could guarantee to have off every year.

37 blades?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? (yes, I counted) That's more like 2 years production for me currently if you only count ones that will get finished:D

If I can produce that many blades of that apperant quality in my first 2 years, i'll consider myself blessed. Holy cow !

Holy S_ _T !! If thats what one days work is for an accomplished bladesmith (no pun intended:) ) then I have quite the road ahead of me.It takes me a days work just to slot a gaurd ;) Nice work !!
Merry christmas to you and your family and like was said....dont forget to treat youself.

I counted 42. I took three weeks off and attended a bladesmithing seminar with a local knifemaker. That accounted for three days. I then spent the rest of the three weeks trying to apply what I learned. In that time, I made enough damascus to forge 16 knives. I also forged 4 out of 1080 and 2 out of 52100. I've only got three of them cleaned up and ready for HT. I'm in awe of the amount of work that was accomplished Stacy.

Thank you for the inspiration! I averaged a knife forged a day, over the three weeks. This included making the damascus. One other thing I'd like to say. I love some of the designs. You appear to have something there for just about any knife client that would look through your inventory. Very nice selection. I'm currently working on just controling my hammer and trying to learn how the steel moves, depending on that hammer blow. I'm getting there, but am a longgggggggggggggg way away from what I saw here.

Very nice!

42 knives ,4 slotted gaurds,1 stag handle.....and a partridge in a pear tree :D

That big bowie is going to make someone verrrrry happy (hopefully its for someone on the nice list  )

Heck fellas, all I was trying to do was forge a drop point hunter. They just kept turning out weird. As a teaser, there are eight of Bill Moran's blades in there. I finished forging out the tangs and cleaned up the grinds. If you have the 50th year book you will be able to find them.

On another note, Tonight I was presiding at the St. Andrew's Society meeting ( Yes, wearing that kilt again), and we were visited by Lord John Wallace. He was there to inform me and the group that I have been elected as a Fellow of the Society of Antiquarians of Scotland. It is the second oldest Antiquarian society in Britain. There are only 3500 Fellows worldwide. It is a great honor to be elected as a Fellow. So now my formal signature is
Stacy Elliott Apelt, FSA(Scot)

Congratulations, Stacy! I guess another HUZZAH is in order, eh?

We need a foto of you in full formal dress......

Congrats! As someone who's taken a lot of flack from friends for wearing a kilt, dont ever let someone tell you it's a skirt !
