Here is the last knife coming out of my shop before I close it while I move into my new house!

This is one of the few hidden tangs I have done. I need to do more! The wood burl on this is insane. I cant stop looking at it. In sunlight, it looks like the whle handle is comletely on fire. I acquired it from David Peterson here on Knet....this is a fast, light fighter and balances 1/8" in front of the guard. Its a thin, light blade which feels nearly weightless. The handle is heavily sculpted and 3D in shape and is the feel I have developed into on many new designs.

It is:
12" OAL
7.5" 1/8" 1084 Differentially Heat Treated Blade
4.75" Stabilized Box Elder Burl
Fluted Nickel Silver Guard

Hope you like it!

I agree on the guard! This is probably only my 3rd hidden tang ever, so I need to get a feel of things. Dont tell my dad, though....this one will be a father's day gift!

My word that burl is insane ! I love it. Serious I think I could stare at it for a long time and be entertained.

I like the handle a lot. The wood and the shape are fantastic. It makes me think of a comp. cutter.

The handle is indeed based on some much heavier, chopping knives. I just like how they feel. I often find the thin, oval handles to just not fill the hand like i want them to, or feel a bit dead in the hand. I think if you look at custom pistols, stocks on guns, even tools, there is a much wider variety of handle shapes than the stock straight oval that seems to be standard. Some like handles like this, others like something more straight and traditional.

Heres another I just finished...same idea and extremely comfortable and in my opinion, more comfortable than the average handle....
