I have the opportunity and the inclination to go for a hike tomorrow. If you're free and want to get out of the house and live in the NY, NJ, CT area let me know by posting here. I am planning on going to Clarence Fahnesdtock State Park here in NY but am open to suggestions. The Park hits part of the AT with an easy to medium difficuly trail around Canopus Lake maybe a 100' change in elevation overall. Let me know by posting here if you're interested.
Thanks.

I am not able to go, but I just wanted to let you know that I like this idea. Maybe if there is some interest, it is something that can be done in the future as well.

Have fun hiking.

You should have given more notice...
I know a few guys who might be interested... Sundsvall for one mentioned to me once that he was up for a winter hike... a week or two would be nice.
Minimal elevation though... Ken Colluchi took me on a mountain goat hike once that ended up with me losing my breakfast and then dumping half a dozen MRE entrees somewhere on a mountain...

I'd be up for something in the future. I don't get many opportunities to get away but If we plan something then, well, I can plan for it.

Mutt, for a first meet up it's probably ideal to start off easy and then if there is interest, it could become a monthly or bimonthly thing with more challenging trails.

Funniest damn thing I ever saw!!!

Me (from top of hill): Hey Mutt! Let's go!

Mutt: Blaaaaech!

Me(wondering what the problem is): What was that? Couldn't hear ya?

Mutt: BlaaaaecHBLAACH! PHHHHT! BlaaaaH!

Me (sitting waiting for Mutt): You blowing chunks? Wuss.

Mutt: I'm going to die.

Mind you, this was all in the first 15 minutes of the hike.

my dog sometimes eats his own puke..did mutt then do that?? :D BTW your a stud...

Shoot - this is practically in my back yard and it's a good day for it... Welp, I wouldn't mind getting in on the next one as long as it's not the kind of hike that made MM throw up.

Next Saturday, 18 Dec. Partly Cloudy 38°/28° 0 % chance of precipitation.
Next Sunday, 19 Dec. Showers ....30% chance of precipitation.

I'm free for next Saturday.

Be careful, it is still deer season and there are archers in the woods on the south side of 301.
If you go past the Canopus (on 301) there is a spot to park on the right hand side, marked by red blazes. I believe it is the red trail and it goes back to a pond or two. Easy, shortish walk...we usually cook a hot lunch at the pond.

Be sure to pick up a map, they aren't topographic, but they are helpful. The path I mentioned is on the park supplied map :)

Have fun, I wish I could get out :(

I'm going for a shork hike in that area again tomorrow. If I post again tomorrow night, then it's safe. :) .

Planning to go again on Saturday if the weather holds out. C'mon men, get on out there!

come to the New Jersey Knife Collectors meeting instead!
