Hi folks, haven't been around this part for a while, work, wife, life pretty much keeping things interesting at home, but this past week finished up two sheaths that will most likely be the last for this year.

One is a vertical sheath for a custom folder by Mason out of England, excellent knife too, it's modelled after the Lanny's Clip style

and this one is for my wife's uncle, he picked up this rather large folder, a Northfield #98 with an awl, very cool knife as well, big rascal, it was pretty thick to form around it. He wanted to carry it more horizontal as he can't raise his arms up for a vertical carry style, old age gets us all...

I hope everyone has an excellent finish to this 2016 and wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Very very nice !!! Both so elegant looking, great work :-)

Thanks guys, that first one has a layer of leather between the belt loop and the body of the sheath, it's a longer piece than I usually put in there as the fellow asked for it to fit his belt, normally I leave that open more so it has room to tilt if you need it to.

The horizontal one has a layer of leather below the knife, and then below that layer is yet one more layer that forms the belt loop, and the belt loop folds over and is sewn along the bottom which ends up being 4 layers thick, but it makes it a more rigid sheath overall.

Thanks Dwayne! hope you're doing well sir!

I know it's pretty early to wish everyone a Merry Christmas ;) but hey, the earlier the better !

The big #98 Northfield was pretty tough to form around that end, I would have liked it to be formed closer to the end of the knife but the leather wasn't having any of that! Some thinner leather would have probably formed tighter around the end but then...it'd be lighter leather and this will last a life time.

The knife is pretty great too, he asked me to sharpen it up as it was brand new to him and needed to be sharpened, not sure why they don't do a better job of that but boy did this take an excellent edge and GEC grind down their blades fairly thin so this baby can cut!

Good to see ya Gary!! Fantastic work as always my friend, refined and elegant. I just sent a couple of pancake sheaths off to England too.

Thanks guys and Dave hope you're feeling better now after the hospital?

And the one was made for a knife from the UK, the owner is in the states so it was shipped back to him here, but Paul Mason does an excellent job for both folders and fixed blades too.

For those interested in his work, he's a paying knifemaker member here, please follow this link to a thread in Traditional subforum

42 degrees Celsius ( 107 degrees Fahrenheit ) at work on Friday , spent the whole day working outside with no shade , drank about two Olympic sized swimming pools of water and still came home dehydrated .
I envy you guys , and your White Christmas .

Yah that's me to a T :)

Not as prolific a maker as you or several others but it is what it is!

Still hoping to move and have a dedicated G2 area and that will help a lot
