Currently when I view any exchange forums the first thing I do is scroll to the bottom and change to "Last Post Time" from "Thread Start Time." This makes the forum much more relevant and useful. But I don't know how to get it to stay this way. So each time I view a new forum, I have to repeat this process. Can anyone tell me how to keep this permanently on "Last Post Time"? Thanks.

There is no way to permanently set it. It is set to default to last post time because people were abusing the rules.

Bumping threads to the top was disabled because of abuse as Karda noted. Threads are permanently placed in a chronological order. Not such a hassle, but it still requiresma few extra clicks.

I'll admit that there are many problems I can't even imagine with administering a forum of this size.
From a buyers point of view, I visit 6 BF for sale forums on at least a daily basis. It is inconvenient to scroll to the bottom and change the sort to Last Post Time but I could probably live with that.
However, from a sellers point of view, this is a huge problem. I would bet that 99% of buyers don't change the scroll as I described above. That means anything I post for sale quickly gets buried in the for sale forum and goes virtually unviewed after the first day or 2.
Sorry but I think the actions BF have taken to avoid illegal bumps are so drastic that it is something that the second Bush administration would come up with (akin to the war in Iraq.) Somehow the other knife forums can deal with the problem of illegal bumps. Maybe it is time to give the Last Post Time sort another trial. Have your Moderators be real strict with infractions for those who violate the rules. Get more Moderators if you need to.

I like what it means for sellers. It reduces overpricing and then constantly price dropping until there's a bite. Instead, with the effectiveness of bumping reduced, they must price it reasonably from the start or increase the risk of it not selling. This simplifies things as a seller, something I prefer at least. As a buyer, this means less time wasted rechecking the thread for the new price drops.

At first I hated it and sorted it by time like you do, but I do like it as a buyer. The reason I like it is that before I was constantly sorting through old threads I didn't care about as they got bumped. Since there are at most a couple threads a week with knives I might consider buying if they reduce in price and many, many more that I don't care about (which I'd assume is the same for you), it is much more time effective to just keep those open til they either sell or reduce to a price I want to pay than it is to sort through all the threads I don't care about each time I check the forum.

I can agree to disagree with you. This is not something I just noticed. These are problems that I have been dealing with for a quite awhile. As I described above, my opinion is it is a big problem for the sellers and quite inconvenient for buyers. I think it is such a problem that I probably will not renew my Gold membership next time and confine my selling to other forums. I expect Mods or Admins don't care about about me but I am sad because I have been a member of BF for years and like BF very much other than this problem.

We don't need his political opinion here.

We are moderators, not supervisors, and if we were supervisors, we are "paid" by the sellers, not the buyers. The seller here did not violate any rules.
