Hello. I am a newbie on the block.

Having sold my collection of original pattern British Commando Knives a few years ago at a Wallis & Wallis auction I now come to the three examples I retained for sentimental reasons. The original collection was some thirty knives largely collected in the 1970s and then, through changing life situations etc. languished in a box for a number of years. Twenty or so of these were originals, mostly Wilkinsons, and some ten repros of one kind or another so that I would know the difference between the two.

I have been monitoring the sale of F&S knives on eBay and my impression is that there is a lot of dross masquerading as the real thing. This applies in my instance particularly when talking about B2s. This also worries me in relation to getting the right price for my knives because there must be a number of people out there who think that a B2 was this or that, when infact, it wasn't and I feel this muddies the water and may affect the price adversley. However, there have been one or two good original items and this has given me some idea of what I think would be fair prices for my three knives.

I therefore think my best approach to find good and sincere collectors (and also those who know the good from the rubbish), is initially to go via forums, then to inform interested parties and give specs and pics before (possibly) putting the knives on eBay (unless there is some better aution site for military items - have done a search but haven't found one). Details and photographs of the three knives are in a MS Word document which is available on request.

THE KNIVES ARE:
WILKINSON. B2 with original and correct sheath
WILKINSON. WHITE METAL. Ringed handle c.1970s with sheath
WILKINSON - COMMANDO COMMEMERATIVE (1940-1945)

Hi Nigel, you might wany to check out the exchange ( a link is at the top of the page) You might have better luck. Check out the rules in those froums, because some you can not sell in and some you can. I think you have to become a gold member to sell, but you will need to read the rules to make sure. I hope this help. BTW F&S knives are very classy IMO. John

Yes, selling is only allowed in the appropriate forums and by someone that is a Gold or Platinum member (a Knifemaker membership allows a person to sell in the knifemaker for sale forums).

Welcome to Bladeforums, Nigel.
