I have had lots of fun re-handling eight Buck knives that are some of my user knives.

I had a couple pair of Sambar stag scales that fit a couple Buck knives I really wanted to re-handle.

The first is my favorite edc in the 300 series…a Buck 311. I have carried this knife a lot. I will probably carry it a lot more now. :)

The second re-handle was one I really didn't want to mess up. It is new right now, but will find lots of pocket time in the future. It is one of the recent BCCI offerings…Buck 301 with white Micarta scales and BG-42 blades.

Here they are at about 5pm yesterday afternoon;

The scales have been fitted and they are expoxied in place. Now to dry overnight. (I picked up an easier clamping system yesterday when I went to town)

I like the ample remaining outer stag surface on these!

Starts with not too thick scale material and/or sanding the stag as much as possible from the BOTTOM prior to fitting so not too much remains on top to blend flush to the bolsters. See,....I'm learning a lot watching YOU. :D

These pictures were taken about an hour ago. They are done!!

These are going to be a pleasure to carry. :)

Yes….I had to sand the backsides some to get the thickness I wanted for the finish look.

Yep,....and I notice the more you DO, "da better ya" GET! Congrats on some fine work there and enjoy.

Always a bit more fun to carry and use when you had a hand (or two :-) in the final presentation.

I was just curious what kind or brand of masking tape you were using, as you have both blue and green tape on the knives in prepping? Is there a specific need for anything special here, or just what you had on hand?

The blue is the regular 3M house painter's tape. It's good, but not great.

The green is from an auto parts store. There were three levels of 3M tape for car detailing and the green was the best. It seems to hold up much better when working close to it until I get to the point of wanting to sand through it. I use that for my guide as to how much sanding I do.

The green is supposed to hold up to auto buffers better. It works out nicely for this job too.
