Big Devil Stairs in Shenandoah National Park.

My two hiking partners, Zachary and Tzofi, on the trail.

That's the one thing I do miss in my move to Texas. The Shenedoah Natinal park. I've hiked and backpacked that section of the Appellation Trail many times. Parking the car at the Gravel Springs shelter parking lot, hiking down to the Big Devil Stairs, doing the Peak Trail. Now I live in Texas with cactus and mesquite thickets.

I do miss the eastern hardwood forest!!!!

That's why I moved out of Texas. I just prefer the geography a lot more.

The Blue Ridge is really beautiful this time of the year especially. I have been hitting the Smoky Mt NP an awful lot over the last couple of weeks.

Nice post man. I just came back from a week in the smokies. It's a great time of year for woods wandering.

The fall foliage colors have been especially pretty this year and we haven't had any big fronts blow through knocking the leaves down in one event. It will happen. "Woods wanderings" probably define really well what I have been doing an awful lot of lately. The focus has been photography and not hiking per se.
