Well, last week I did 4 machetes and 4 knives. Took it easy, so to speak. Which was a good thing because my youngest, Lily, got pink eye. 2 days off of school. So I ran my ass off and finished a small batch (the blade work was already done).

Things didn't go totaly as planned. My scandi jig needs rebuilding badly, and I had trouble with my grinds. The kind of trouble on the last day, just cleaning up, that ruins 2 knives. Also, turns out my platen liner has a worn spot (not flat) in it, and so I was fighting a loosing battle. That means the 2 smaller knives are not for sale. Of course, you can see from the pictures that I got so frustrated on the 2nd one that I beat it with a sledgehammer till it was no longer a knife. On a sidenote, the knife took 5 blows of a sledgehammer with all my might before the blade snapped, and the handle is still holding on also. (drove the knife into my anvil stump point first.) Those micarta pins are amazing! By the by, the small knives (I get to keep the surviving one) were Kevin Estella Bushies.

So today I have two knives available. A Competition Cutter, and a Camp Knife. Both wearing nat linen micarta scales, and black linen micarta bolsters and liners. The pins are micarta, g-10, mosaic beautymark, and bullseye. The steel on both is spalted 01 that is 5/32" thick. SOLD Thanks.

Heber can probably make an outstanding sheath for these, and his prices are dirt cheap! I'm so excited to be working with Heber!

I'll be getting me one of those camp knives one day. Course I got a 5 and 3 year old that I gotta get thru college first tho' :D. Well I would say that if your equipment is just now wearing out that it must have been quality stuff you sure have put a lot of blades thru it. Sounds like a good time to make some improvements if you have been thinking about any.

Yes. I ordered a new platen liner today, and I'm re-building the Scandi jig too.

The Camp Knife is $400 without sheath, and the Comp Cutter is $450 without sheath.

Thanks Andy, I'm excited to be working with you too. Those are some really nice knives. Bet they are awesome users.

If anyone wants a sheath for one of these beauties, let me know. BTW Chestnut leather would be my pick. I think it would contrast nicely with the black Micarta and help show off the highlights of the natural micarta.

Beautiful stuff, Andy.
I've had the same kind of week this week that you had last week.:(
When it rains it pours it seems like.

Really liking seeing more of this bolster style Andy. Some day i hope to get my hands on one of the larger models in this style, those are beautiful knives. I like the looks of that little KE Bushie a lot.

By the way, 5 blows from a sledge says a lot about your heat treat, that's pretty awesome. Was that 1/8" 01 on that knife? I looked on your site for the specs but didn't see that model listed. I'm assuming with the scandi grind they are 1/8" or thinner.

It was 1/8" 01. That stuff amazes me.

I thought so, I know I have been really happy with the durability of the 5/32 of the Bushfinger.

I meant to say the handle taking it like that was pretty amazing too. Does the other side look as good?

I showed the bad side. LOL. What amazed me was that the area with the 4 small (1/8") micarta pins had very little seperation from the tang on the bad side, and was totaly sealed on the good side.

Wow, impressive! I know I'll never be smacking mine five times with a sledge so heck it should last forever :)
