Last WWI Navy vet dies.

Fair winds and following seas, old sailor.

We will all be following him...by and by.

My father was a WW1 veteran. He served in France as a medic in the Royal Canadian Army. He was 64 years old when I was born in 1954. As with most who have seen the horrors of close combat he never talked about his war experiences. I will always remember his kindness. I never heard him say a cross word to anyone.

My grandfather was in the merchant marines in WWI. He survived being on 6 ships that were sunk. He spent about a week in the water one of those times.

My Dad was Navy during WW II. Good by to 105 year old Old Salt.
None but respect for the efforts of our military then...and....now.
We ARE free because they serve.

Almighty Father, strong to save
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave
Who bids the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep.
Oh hear us when we cry to Thee
For those in peril on the sea.

Requiescat in pace, Lloyd Brown.
