Is the 3 dot 110 the last year for 440 and was that the same steel as the original 110? BTW - anyone care to post a picture of the original 110 with sheath? Don't recall if I've actually seen one. I've almost completed selling the balance of my non-Buck knives. Got a few $ in the Paypal account to buy a few gems.

That would be 1980 and possibly a little into 1981 for the 440C on the Three-Dot blades.

Here is a picture of my favorite 1st/1st that I have..........

Stumps - thanks for posting. Its very sleek and so is the sheath. Oldest one I have is 1973.........so far that is. I wonder what one like yours goes for? Muy denaro.

Yes, no and maybe. The original steel was 440C but I think it was forged. The Later versions were blanked. Historians here, Please correct me if I'm wrong and tell us the last date of the forged 440c's.

Here's a better picture of it. This one shows the size of the old boxes better.

As to the forged 110s.....

Third Version, Second Variation (1966, maybe a little into '67) was the last of the forged blades according to my notes.

I heard that you can't fine blank 440C, and that is why it was replaced with a blankable material.

I think it's a matter of degree.

They found that 440C was tough on the equipment.

The new steels stamp out like cookies.

Really nice kingdom. I like the sleeker sheaths that ride low; the top of the belt loop is at the top of the sheath. You don't even know its there. The original knife/sheath was SOOOOOO classy. Hey Joe - make an exact copy of the original, sheath and all. Do a run of 5000 for $85 each. You'll sell out the first month. Why not?

I'm not familiar with all the variations,i have som e new in box 2 dots and some user 2 dots, one of them has onlt 2 brass scale pins, the others have 3 brass scale pins. Are any of these forged/I have a 2 dot with the original sales reciept from 1968 ,the knive was under $20 taxes in..LOL.tHE 440 C IS AWESOME ,I convex those edges and can cut asll day without sharpening them. The regular grind not so much!

Might should check the date on that sales receipt as the 2 dots didn't come out until 74. DM

HMMMMMN,got it off the bay, somebody must have stuck the earlier cash register reciept in the box with this nib 2 dot,it says 1968 and is a sales reciept for a buck folder hunter it says ,somebody could have just comme across the receipt and saved it to go along with a sale or something. You never know what people claim as original i guess.

Stuff from boxes often gets shifted around.

Worry not, just put your receipt in the box with a late sixties model.

:)

Oh......you'll have to buy one? Oh well, more fun.

:D

I don't have any of those smaller early 110 knives, but i'd like to get one, preferrably with the solid brass integral back spacer.

Well, save the receipt.

It's only a matter of time until your "like to get one" turns into a "got one."

They are some very special and beautiful knives.
