Hi, I’m new to the forum.

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify and approx age of my late grandfathers pocket knife?

I see it’s a Robt Klaas Solingen KC15 but I haven’t been able to find any info specific to this model.

I haven’t been able to figure out how to add a picture, I will keep trying and post in a comment.

Use an image hosting site like imgur, copy the .jpg link into the picture frame looking button on the post thingy

Thanks, but I’ve never used that and can’t right now so I guess it’ll have to wait.

The easiest way to post photos is to purchase a membership and post photos straight from your photo gallery. I always compress my photos first to help save space on the BFC servers.

Welcome to Bladeforums Lumpy.

The "KC" in "KC15" stands for Kissing Crane (the name of the knife company), "15" is the model number.

It's a very old company/brand (although owned now by a different company), they have a website kissingcraneknifeco.com. You can read the company history there.

Maybe this site will provide some help on dating your knife- http://knifeguides.com/how-to-date-a-kissing-crane-knife/

Kissing Crane knives have been made in a variety of countries. Since yours says "Solingen", that means it was made in Germany. Those are the highest quality ones.

I believe the model KC15 is a "Congress" pattern. Does the knife have four blades and a curved/arched handle? That would be a "Congress".

Yes it has four blades and a slightly curved or bent handle. Thank you so much for the info I will check out that website.

It was my mom’s father’s knife. She remembers him using it all the time and knows that he always carried one from in the war but not sure if it was that one or not. But this is the only one she remembers him having. Unfortunately one of the smaller blades has the end broke off so I’m not sure if I will make it into a useable point or just leave it. But I love that I have it and just want to know more about it.
