Late last year I bought a beautiful Buck 110 auto conversion.

This came from Jay's knives and has a round button, leaf-spring added to make it perform properly. The conversion seems to be holding up well and the blade locks up very tight.

Any opinions, comments?

I see those coming out of Arizona. Tastefully done. Still, the weak link is the coil spring. They quite often break from use. DM

This one has a nice, strong leaf spring. It seems to work quite well and, as most Buck knives will, holds a decent edge.

Use... I mean just opening and closing. I've not seen one with a leaf spring and not sure how that would work. The button type I've seen works via a button, is merely a release when depressed.
The coil spring by closing the blade adds tension to the spring. Once the blade is released the coil exerts force and opens the blade. The coil spring is coiled and hidden inside the front bolster and one end anchored to the blade. I think Buck has started building some of these. Otherwise the warranty is voided. DM

Yes, while the warranty is voided, the knife still maintains it's structural integrity. Think of it as you would a Boker Leverlock. with the leaf spring anchored between the spine and the heel of the knife.

I hope this helps.
