Late lock up on 560

I just received my ZT 560 in the mail. Flipped it out and few times and then inspected it and noticed the lock up seem late, and it was hard to disengage the frame lock. So I checked some picture of the lock up people usually have on here and its seemed around 50% or less. Mine looks more like 60-70%. Is the bad, and is there anything Kershaw will do about it?

Thanks!

Mine was really sticky until i flipped it about 500 times. As long as it locks up tight without any play 60-70% is fine

Here's mine for comparison

The later lock up will not hurt your performance and there is no way that I have ever heard of to asses the life of a frame lock no matter if it is late or early. There is also a possibility that a re assembling while pushing the scales in opposite directions may cause the lock to shift to an earlier position.

Well you know that zt will fix for you if it goes to shit. So just use it till you have a problem, which maybe never.

So Kershaw's warranty is fairly reasonable? Even if im not the original purchaser?

Late lock up is better than early as far as safety is concerned. (harder for it accidentally to disengage) As the others have said, ZT / Kershaw's warranty is among the best in the buisness. I wouldn't worry about the late lock up. I would use that baby like I stole it! ;)

Most definitely, especially with ZTs. While their website says 4 - 6 weeks, They typically get ZTs in and out in a few days (then you only have to wait on shipping time).

You'rs looks great, heres a picture of mine

A few things that are worth noting: The locking tang of the blade is milled in with and arc ramp rather than a flat angled ramp. The Arc in the ramp will keep your lock from going too far over since it hits a surface that curves upward more than a flat angled ramp can. Your lockup is a little late, but not what I would call unacceptable.

I also have a problem with late lock up.
(and some other problems)

When i use the flipper it has a nice early lock up but with a little presure i get a very very late lockup.
The detent ball almost hits the liner.
I am going to sent it back to Zt because i think this is not Ok.

Knife has had some little usage but i have flipped it a lot.
No excessive use of oil and only flipping and some light cutting jobs.

I'd send that one in too . . .

I also have a problem with late lock up.

I had an 0551 that had about 70% lockup and could be pushed even farther. I took it apart and now it's still 70% but can't be pushed over any more.

is there any play? id try to take it apart and put it back together before sending it in

I think late lock up could be something positive since it would make your lock more safety, but it would be abit harder to unlock.

Mine locked up just like your first picture and was rock solid. I did some cardboard cutting and the lock moved in a bit, almost where yours is but not quite. I wouldn't be too worried about it but it's your knife, do what makes you happy.

ZT has a limited lifetime warranty...so I think you have to be original owner to have the warranty remain valid.
