My Wifey just spoiled me rotten with this treasure from Becker:

She got me a book from Bagwell to get some more uses out of my BK-9, too.

If I took a dozen showers a day, the stench of how spoiled I am would still permeate the planet. :o

I got my wife Joy of Cooking a couple of years ago. We've used it a lot. Case in point: we had a standing rib roast for Christmas. We ditched the instructions it came with and followed Joy of Cooking. The result was the best rib roast I've ever tasted. If only I'd used my BK9 to carve it. :(

A good knife block fits in most kitchens and you really only need a good paring knife, a wicked good chef knife, and a serrated slicer (for breadstuffs and slicing).

Even though it's red meat, you can have more than one rib roast in your lifetime. Just keep your BK-9 ready (one of Guyon's Magnum Camp knives may even work better).

wow, I just bought the Joy of Cooking yesterday too.

Awesome! Let's have a race to see who can attempt the most recipes and another for who has the most successes. I assume I'll lose both, but it'll still be fun.

We have a Joy of Cooking that belonged to my wife's grandmother. It has seen lots of use. I need to get the latest edition.

The latest one has a recipe for corn chowder that looks very similar to what my grandmother used to make. And the hot and sour soup recipe looks very do-able (a competitor's cookbook had a recipe for hot and sour soup that would've grossed out the Devil himself).

Please don't anyone tell SamX I'm starting with soups. He hasn't accepted my challenge and if he has, I want to keep it a secret until after they're made.
