I managed to crank this one out in about 3 weeks in my spare time after work for the local St. Jude's Cancer Research Ice Fishing Tournament. I figure this is the best way to improve my skills and get them where I'd like to be before charging any money for my knives. Paychecks are going towards an oven soon. I'm looking on some recommendations on some of those as well.
Blade is 1095, forge heat treat (not ideal, I know), brass bolsters are pinned and ground, handle is sycamore. I made the sheath as well; hand formed and stitched.
I did try my hand at a hamon, and did get one to show through ever so slightly, even though it's not visible in the pictures. I would think not being so pronounced has a lot to do with the forge heat treat.
I'm still getting a slight bit of the pins showing in the bolsters, even after tapering the holes and cleaning them.
Pictures aren't the greatest, but they're all I have.
Critiques are encouraged!
