Latest eBay find, early JD Smith knife?

Greetings everyone,

Here is my latest eBay find. I believe that it is one of JD Smith's earlier knives. At least it looks like his work and mark to me, and it is not marked with a JS or MS. The knife is about 12.25" overall, with a fileworked blade of about 7.5". The fitting are brass and I'm assuming the handle is ironwood, but I am not certain. It came with the sheath in the last two pictures. If anyone can offer any info on the knife, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

That's certainly his mark. Not a bad knife for a vintage piece!
 
That knife from it's appearance dates from around (and even I'm guessing)''90 or '91.
At that time I was an unrated smith so no ABS stamp. I made so many in that style that I don't even remember that one, in fact it might be as early as '89.

So J.D., it's from '89 or the early 90's... I had no idea you were sooo old. :D
