Stumbled across two really nice knives lately at the local flea markets. A couple of trades and some boot later, I own these two: a Case XX 6265 folding hunter in the wood scales, according to the books, XX stamp, lanyard hole in XX frame indicates 1964 built; and second knife is a Hen and Rooster branded jumbo equal end stockman/cattle knife in stag, I believe an Olbertz made, as it looks just about like the Bulldog cattle knives I've seen pictured on here. The H&R is brand new, the Case is of course old, but in excellent condition, a few small marks on the metal, the scales look great, and it appears unused and unsharpened. Even the leather case doesn't appear to have been on a belt before.

A couple of real nice knives. Lucky Dog You, I had to help Mama today, no looking at the markets.;)

Good stuff! That Hen & Rooster's lookin' good on the fence rail.

It involved a lot of luck on my part in even finding these two knives. I've had to work Saturdays for four months straight and had to take care of other matters on Sundays, so the few hours I had to scour the flea markets coinciding with the appearance of these two knives was about an impossible occurance. :eek:Even luckier was the fact that the knife dealer men were willing to take trades and that I had enough cash put back to pay the difference in trades vs new knives.

Now for the all important dilemna, put that Case to use this hunting season, or oil it and admire it only! If I use it, it won't be really strenuous use, just rabbits and squirrels and stuff, and it would be SAD to wait half a lifetime for such a find and then only collect it. :)

Nice grabs. You're really lucky, the only knives at the flea markets here are cheap Chinese junk.
