Yeah Dave,
I saw them on the cover also, they look better online (IMHO).
BUT I havent made up my mind if I like the blade etch. I love the green scales and the emblem inset in the handle isn't too bad, and the idea behind the pair of knives I like...
Still the blade... The price is right! So who knows, maybe I'll have a pair :D

The little medallion on the Ole Buck is the same as the one used on the Westmark barlow, also etched Ole Buck. It is in the April 2007 SMKW catalog page 69:grumpy:

soooo. it is not a Buck Knives medallion then?
is the etch the same?
were these knives fisnished out side of buck factory?
if so then i am P!O!ed!
the advertiseing led you to belive they were from buck !!!!

JOE ! what is going on here????????!!!

Were the SMKW green handled "ole bucks" manfactured buy Buck as a special order for SMKW or is it a regular production 110 modified by someone other than Buck for SMKW?

This is why I stick with buying only vintage 120s and 110s.

At least I know they're real.

oh they are real ...
every bit as real as a
Yellowhorse or
WBC or
who ever Buck authorizes to embellish the knives..
i seen a set on display at the buck club set ups!
i have mine but they are at post falls getting signed!:D

Oh, I know.

But, to me, there's a solidarity and integrity in an old knife that could tell some stories if it just had a voice........stories of elk and deer and bear and many campfires.

Although I must admit some of the new ones are pretty mysterious......like......as you are experiencing................WHO DID THIS!?!???

Be nice if the knife could tell that story.

:D

All of mine tell stories... generally concerning how dark it is in that drawer. The fixed ones at least can converse about the brightness of my wife's glass octagon display cabinet, where they occupy the bottom mirrored shelf. They all probably compare notes as to which forearm they got to shave as demonstration of their worthiness. Kind of sad, actually... and boring - like this reply... sorry!

Stainz

Well, you gave it a shot.

:D

I actually do prefer well-cared-for hunting knives that show some signs of use but still look good.

I buy some other stuff once in a while, but it's vintage stuff with some history, character and patina that I'll really work hard to get.

Actually a cool reply Stainz... We are selling off an unused organ and I am looking for some sort of display cabinet to go in its place, in lieu of having to build one.

Would be a cool thread if folks showed pics of how they have their knives displayed. I have no imagination when it comes to that.

Hi Dave; i ordered a set of the old Buck 110 and the young Buck 112 a couple of hours ago so they must have them back in stock, just a heads up. Gods Blessings to all.

Gosh, Pack Rat, that is real dedication to your knife hobby! I mean, I like knives, but I can't think of what 'unused organ' I could sell... at least, of my organs! That is an idea, though...

Re display cabinets - we have a collection of different ones - mostly octagonal glass with particle board bases - and lit by quartz-halogen lamps. They came from collectible goodies stores who were changing their 'themes' - and ran $50-$100 - probably cost an order of magnitude more when new. They have various crystal glass, etc, brand names on them, which are easily hidden. The upper shelves are glass, the bottom is a mirror. Check local stores.
