Have'nt seen a hawk here in a while, so here's the latest I made. This one stated out as an order, and it was meant to be an almost clone of the one I had Coop shoot at Blade. The customer decide he wanted the head to be slightly longer on the blade side, but it was already nailed together , so I made a call and finished it up as you see here nd it will soon be on it's way to Texas. I will make the origanal customer's hawk when I get home in a couple of weeks.
Head is leaf spring, rough forged, curly maple haft wrapped in rawhide and brass tacked, and finished in tung oil.
Head cover is also brass tacked.

awesome! It looks just right.

That is exceptionally nice, but I would like it even more if the blade had a bit more spread and length to it.:D

Again, many thanks to all.
Peter, the fellow that first commisioned the piece also felt it would benefit from a bit longer head, so on the re-do in a couple of weeks I will forge the head longer and plan on widening the blade as well.

:D Interesting John. I wasn't sure if it being a "period" piece that the size and shape of the head was specific for authenticity.

In looking at it, it just seemed that aesthetically, it would look better with a bit larger blade.

The finishing features are OUTSTANDING. Hope to see the next version.

Peter
