So, after some encouragement from Killgar i decided to try to show some of my latest work.

Its a prototype of a bushcraft knife i think might work pretty well. I made one in N690 (on request of my brother) but the other is in k390 which so far is one of my favourite steels.

Feel free to comment, would love to get some feedback.

PS, they are not for sale and the day i think they are commercially viable i will upgrade my account

Those are very nice Olivier. I wonder how you feel about the simple high toughness steels like AEB-L and 15N20. I've already fallen in love with the latter and the former is growing on me fast! Both are super easy to grind, which saves money for the customer, and are tough enough and hold an edge well enough at high hardness that they can outcut the less finely grained "super" steels due to taking and holding thinner geometries. If you give either of these a try (unless you already have, then excuse my presumption) I think you'll like them.

Very nice work Olivier. You have real talent. They look like a very useful design.

Thanks.

I haven't used AEB-L nor did I look in to it more than superficially. Lately I'm moving away from stainless in general. I used N690 because I know it and I like it, It's not 'supersteel' but in my opinion well balanced for stainless.
As for 15n20 I used it as the white layer for Damascus only. Never tested it alone. Based on the composition I would be surprised if it would outcut k390 but in the end I'm a newbie to metallurgy.

I wanted edge retention without compromising toughness, there may be more than one answer to this but k390 at 62RC seemed to be a reasonable choice. And one that wasn't readily available from a lot of other makers.
But I fully agree on the belts... Am trying to find CBN in 50*2000mm.

Thx for all the love and support guys, it really means a lot to me and made me a happy man today.

And Sir Monofletch, I would feel better to sell something that has been thoroughly tested in the field so at the moment I'm not selling anything yet.

And just to know, if I wanted to sell occasionally, would that require a gold or platinum membership? Don't want to be a cheapskate and think for the info in here 75$ is a bargain but at the moment theirs shittloads of under 75 costs that really ad up. Just made 5 knives to give away to get tested...
So just trying to save every cent I can.

Knifemaker/Craftsman/Service Provider, or you are restricted to selling items made by anyone else but yourself.

I’ll test one!! :)

I hope you consider a passaround. Quick way to get thorough testing on the design and heat treat. Also a good way to solicit feedback on refining the design (not suggesting it needs it).
Beautiful work, btw. K390 would be a very nice niche to fill.

I just got 4 blades back from heat-treat, need to finish them for next weekend to send them to 2 Bushcraft instructors for testing. They have a weekend with a lot of participants of different levels of experience.
This will be third iteration, depending on their feedback it's either back to the drawing bord or further testing.
One of the questions I still have is bevel angle at apex, currently at 14° per side but that might be optimistic.
If anyone has experience with k390, welcome to share your thoughts on the matter.

And yes, a passaround is definitely a good idea. Just need to find out about potential legal restrictions for shipping knives both here in Belgium and US/rest of the world.
And potential taxes off course.
