I finally looked at the latest breed of lightweight plastic-handled folders from O.E., and I was pretty impressed with them. I looked at a smaller plain-edge and a large combo-edge version, both of which were very high quality. I liked everything about them, including the nifty plastic clip that seems to be replaceable. If a customer were to need a new clip, could they just get it direct from the company? Just wanted to say "good job!" on such a nice looking, well designed, high quality, and reasonably priced folder!

To Chad:

I appreciate your comments on our Zytel handle folders. In designing our Field-Lite, Pocket-Lite series, I first looked at all the Zytel folders out there and worked on offering something new, improved and diferent.

Replacement clips for these knives are available direct from Outdoor Edge. We offer these at no charge as a warranty replacement. If you break the clip, we simply send you a new one.

Thank you for your interest.

Outdoor Edge,

Take care,

I have to say I saw this Field Lite knife yesterday at our local sporting goods store. I was able to handle it and boy, was I pleasantly surprised on what a nice knife this is.

The one I played with was the OE Field Lite spear point. Fit and finish for a zytel handled knife was excellent. Above par to Cold Steel IMHO. The action was smooth and the lock up very tight. I immediately contacted my dealer and ordered one since I couldn't pay the high price they were charging for it here on the island. I could get it for $20 less on the net.

Davod, you guys did a great job with this knife. I have been eyeing the Cold Steel Voyagers again since they are dependable knives for the price but I liked OE's lite knives better. The blade was larger and the handle was comfortable.

Have you ever tought of using a SS clip instead of a zytel integrated one?

I should get it next week.

Thanks,

To Greg:

The Zytel clip really improves the ergonomics on the knife since the clip contours with the handle. A metal clip would not be as nearly as comfortable. Also the fact that the clip is replaceable eliminates the need for a metal clip. Cold Steel recently switched from zytel to metal because they constantly had a problem with their clips breaking and the clip was not replaceable. One reason for this is their clips were designed with a square corner at the end which results in a stress concentration. Our clip is radiused at the end and is therefore much stronger. And in the rare occasion a clip should break, contact us a we'll send you a new one.
