I like the knives Gouge but I see a problem with the Micarta for me. My wife is a yorktown groupie. I can see now that she's gonna have me grinding Yorktown shells and mixing them with bourbon.

Nice looking stuff though. Have you tried to grind any of it yet?

Nice work, I am kinda interested in how your micarta will look when mounted on a knife. Should be interesting.:)

Mark, nice. I probably missed it, how did you make the Markarta(tm)?
(Your first trademark)

Hey Tmickley,

Basically I just heat the polyester casting resin and add it to whatever I am making, rag ,paper etc.I let it soak well into the medium and the add the catylist and stir.I use the minimum amount of catylist that allows the slowest cure. I pour the mix into any makeshift mold and degass it in a vacuum chamber. Its a lot of fun because it never looks like what you expect it will, I am lucky as Deb happens to like the smell.

Thanks Peter,
I thinks I will try and make a batch of black rag and sand Markarta.I will post the results when done. This full time job is really getting in the way of my knife making.

The knives look really GREAT..The Markarta looks pretty wild also. How well does it grind and polish.

Thanks Bruce,
The Markarta grinds well and will take on any finish that you want. The rag stuff looks better with a 220 grit finish and is very grippy. I am going to bead blast some to see how it looks. When I get a new batch made up I will send You some to experiment with.If anyone else reads this and would like to try some shoot me an e-mail.
