I don't actually have this yet but Oz Post has it in it's clutches and they should deliver it to me any time now.

AKC-clubknife-20th.jpg

It's the AKC 20th anniversary knife.

The Bunny knife is probably the closest thing to a traditional Australian knife you're going to get. They've been here virtually since European colonisation, one of my ancestors probably had something like it in his pocket 200 years ago.

I'll post some more pics when it arrives.

Nice looking traditional........
Is a knife like that legal to edc is Aus?

Difficult question to answer, strangely enough. Depends on what state you're in and, to a certain extent, where you live. Technically, in my state, it is illegal to carry any knife unless you have a "lawful reason" for doing so. This is one of those grey areas much open to interpretation. In practice, it works slightly differently. In a city, if a cop sees you with one and he feels like it he can confiscate the knife and you'll probably end up with a fine. Out in the country where I live I can walk around the village, into the pub, wherever and nobody is going to bat an eyelid. There wouldn't be too many farmers who didn't have a knife of some sort in a pouch or in their pocket.

Bang on there Gaj..the same in New Zealand ( a true country :D )...in the country...its a matter of judgement by the officer....a fixed blade would grab a bit more attention...
In town...you would probably get away with...depending on how you were dressed...if you look like a "cow cocky "..(thats a dairy farmer to our American friends )
...again..you would get away with it...but if you were dressed as a normal civilian..with a knife pouch ..in town...you would most probably be pulled up on it.

By the way Gaj...who made the knife?

That's very nice. I like the whole package. What is the swizzle stick type device sticking out of the pouch?

Ahh .. the swizzle stick :) is actually a miniature steel so you can give the knife edge a quick touch up out in the field.

What a great knife! I can't believe an old-timey looking barlow would make anyone nervous but thats the times we live in. :(
Carry it with pride.

A lovely thing, to be sure GAJ. How large is that? Dare I ask the blade alloy?

Can't answer the questions right now guys but, as soon as it arrives ...

The only description I've seen so far for the blade is that it's high carbon.

I like that design a lot. I REALLY like the thought of having the little sharpener that goes in the pouch. Great idea for us field guys that goof up the edge unexpectedly.

Great buy!

Robert
