This one is fun. Small 21, micarta inlays and a few surprises:

First, S35VN blade. Card says 2/2/2011.

Next, the blade is polished, not stonewashed (which is what I thought was usual for micartas?).

Scales do not have "Idaho Made" (they are B10 both sides).

Lanyard has a silver finish bar rather than being tied through the holes at the aft of the scales.

New style fasteners.

New style box.

Dude, that looks like a home run! And, its my daughter's birthday. My seb is 4/15...tax day!:(

Beautiful knife. I just got a Classic LH micarta a couple of weeks ago. Makes for a great carry knife.
Congrats.

That's awesome, all the new Sebs come with the lanyard pin that match the stud. Nice score on the non "Idaho Made", that will probably help the aftermarket price in a few years.

Looks really great, Now go put that thing to use and let us know how the new steel performs.

Thanks guys. One other thing I should have put on the list of new/old features - it has the new fasteners. No sense reversing those. :D

OOOOOOH Where were you able to pick that up? I have looked around at many places with little luck in finding small lefties. I like how that looks with all the silver hardware instead of the blue. Interesting that they made it with a polished blade. I had previously heard that the micarta sebbies were some of the better "beaters." If you are using it, you are going to have to let us know how S35vn holds up!

Beautiful knife John! I ordered a Large Micarta Sebenza on 12/31/10 and I am still waiting for it. I sure hope it get's into my hands soon.

NICE...
Just got my brand New Sebenze 21 Large, same day birthday as yours 2-2-2011, but the blade is stonewashed and cutting edge is polished and have Idaho made and the Lanyard have a blue finish bar and new style of the box.

Must have been ordered with the polished blade.

Nice looking knife. I like the polished hollow, it adds a little something to the knife.

I didn't ask, but I bet you're right (about the order). Talking to Heather, it sounds like LH knives are basically only made if ordered.

One note on that. I was comparing the polished blade on a LV inlay Classic to this blade last night (both are polished). The S30V blade is noticeably different. The finish is much less polished and shows the belt marks to a greater degree. So it looks like Crucible's comment about easier/faster/better polishing is true, fwiw. ;)

I really like the ATS-34 polished blades on the P and earlier knives. It was mentioned previously here that they don't do it because it takes too much time on a cork belt. I'm thinking about making a special request.

I also think I need to get a S35VN blade at some point. :)

I think I would not have taken the leap on this one if it hadn't had the combination of being LH, old scales and new steel...or at least I would have dragged my feet a little longer. Having those three come together made it very compelling, as if that takes much... ;)
