Paul,

Thanks for your help on the way you do your sheath. As you can see - this isn't even a nod toward your style sheath - it is a flat imitation. I talked to Stan Buzek, the maker, and told him "I am making the best facsimile of Paul's work I can on this one - but without lining - so if you want his work - please call him!".

I love Stan and we have worked out a barter system for work. He is patient with me and trusting and I am lucky to have him as a tutor in making knives.

Anyway - here are the pics. It isn't Paul's work for sure - but - it is the best I am capable of right now - so I will take it.

I don't know how to explain it very well , but some shapes are just correct and have a magical correctness to them .
That sheath and knife is one of those rare things

Jason, is this your first non-pouch sheath? I doubt it, but I've never seen one in this style from you. It has everything I love about the style too. Big thumbs up.

My friend, I would sign that sheath and call it my own in a flash. You did a tremendous job, design, embellishment, construction and finish. It represents much more than just a little help from me………….you gotta be good on your end too!!!

Anthony,

I think this is my 10th or so Pancake sheath - but certainly my first of this style.

Ken,

I think it helps to have a knife with good lines. It makes it very easy to make a sheath that has the right dimensions.

Paul,

Thanks again - and thank you for your kind words.

I think your your being modest .

Ive seen some very ugly dresses on some very pretty girls :)

Yeah, I'm used to seeing your Fiddleback pouches, but I know you to be pretty diverse.

I wouldn't be bummed if you showed your work more often.

Dang Jason I have to agree with everybody and I havn't even had coffee yet, so I should be more contrary. Beautiful job! Okay there we go first sip. Did I say beatiful job? Proportions, craftsmanship and more pics of your work. Yep thats everybody. Been a big fan of Stan's too for some time.

Really nice sir, agreeing as well and Dave, now I want coffee ;)

Ken, Dave, and G2,

Thank you all so very much.

Everyone on this thread I have watched your work for some time - and with many of you I have learned from through tutorials and questions answered.

I am deeply honored by your comments and kudos. I have worked hard to become competent and know I have a long way to go - but feel I am still progressing. To an artisan, I think that is a great feeling.
