Here's a slim hunter, might even qualify as a bird and trout pattern, I just finished.

Blade is 1/8" O1

Blade length:3.5"

Overall Length:7.5"

Scales are Cocobolo, finished with Danish Oil. The pictures don't show the contouring very well, but guess thats what I get for using a scanner.
At least you can see the grain, I really wish I could find more wood this nice. Only have enough for 3-4 more knives from this peice :grumpy: Its pretty nasty stuff to work with though.

Pins and thong hole are brass.

Before anyone calls me an ego maniac for the file work, I was planning on keeping this one to carry myself once in awhile :D
Much as I like it, its just not quite what I'm looking for so I'll probably let it go. I think I want something a little bit bigger for myself.

Still needs a sheath made and then I'll sharpen it.

So what do you guys think?

Nice little knife, Matt. Send me your mailing address, and I'll send you a little cocobolo that makes the wood on this knife look plain jane. Not kidding, either. :)

The more I'm around knives I'm finding that the smaller slimer blades have always been used more. I really like how your doing your mark, thats got to take sometime...

Thanks Ray
To be honest I can put my mark on a blade in 15 or 20 minutes anymore. I'm getting to where I do more and more of it with a dremel and less by hand.
I like smaller and slimmer too most of the time too, but the handle on this one is about half an inch short for me. Its comfortable but not quite "the one" :D

It's absolutely cool.......... a neat li'l knife Matt....

ps. we need a re-post of your "Mother's Day @ Olive Garden" rant!! I lost my hard drive and had to re-format. Surely you kept the post?? (out'a pride if not'n else.. :)
I couldn't catch my breath I was laughing so hard!!

regards, mitch

Nice little knife Matt. That file work rocks! I like the cocobolo as a handle materiel as well. Good job!

Thanks alot guys :D

I really like cocobolo too, probably my favorite wood, makes me sneeze though.I always have to clean the shop after I've worked with it :grumpy:

I'll have to see if I can dig up that thread in whine and cheese. You brought that up at a perfect time also. Guess where I had to go eat dinner last night? Yep...olive garden :barf: My dad just retired and thats where he chose to go. And guess what, it was almost as bad as before! Some dickhole behind us was spittin out bullshit faster than a runaway spreader on a west virginia hillside and he was so loud I couldn't hear the people sitting next to me talk. About the only improvement is the waitress didn't try and read the menu to me this time.
Geeze I better quit before I get this thread moved to whine and cheese :D
Edit: here's the old rant http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298613&page=1&pp=20&highlight=Olive+Garden

Matt,

 I really like the file work, certainly not a typical pattern.

Matt I was going to say, "Hey, you double stamped it!" but you beat me to it. :D Nice knife, I can't wait to see what you think is good enough for your own carry.

But I really got a kick out of your OG rant! :D :D :D I didn't know how much I wanted to laugh this morning until I read that. You're so pleasant around here it was enlightening to see you're a regular misfit like the rest of us cynical bastids. That just warmed my heart. Good to see that dickweed got banned too; one more for the moderators.

Thanks and have a great day.

:D
I try to hold back, cause once I get going it can get pretty windy ;) Glad you enjoyed the rant though, it did make me feel a lot better!

Thanks again everybody :)
