I was in Las Vegas for the weekend on a company sponsored trip and everybody in the group carried on their luggage so I was knifeless upon arrival on Friday. Horrors! I searched around for a knfe store (unfortunately I did not hear about Blanchard's 'till last night, at which time it was too late). It felt very strange not to have a knife on me.
I ended up finding a place somewhat far away from the strip. The joke among my friends was that the only gambling I was going to do at Las Vegas was when I walked in the knife store
. The store had a shockingly large inventory of Spydercos, including some very rare ones. Looked around for a long time, got to check out many models I had only seen online, and ended up with a RH PE CF Police. I would have gone for the SE Police, but the grinds on it were just wee bit short of the perfection that was on the PE one. I had handled the SS Police before, but it always struck me a just a hair too heavy for my taste.
The CF Police is perfect, very slim, light and wicked sharp blade. The black clip was very discreet in my back pocket and the slim profile of the handle made it comfortable. No one in the casinos gave me any problems about it.
Next day, we ate at a very nice restaurant. I had the pork chop and as their steak "knife" was the usual unsharpened "tooth" serrated edge where you saw your meat instead of cutting it, I decided to use my Police. I was a bit nervous about pulling out the big knife but did it anyway. Turned out it was almost the exact same length as the steak knife that came out. The waiter was very cool about it, though, commenting "I see you brought your own knife. Are our knives not sharp enough?". I smiled at him, "I'm afraid they aren't".
I mailed it out to myself this morning before getting on the plane so it should be getting here in the next couple of days.
