First time using some decent wood on a handle. This is 1/8" O1 with 416 SS bolster and pins. Needs an edge and a sheath for it which I will hopefully work on this weekend. Critique please.

Looks great! That is actually ironwood burl isn't it? My next one is getting ironwood too, but it's much more plain than yours is.

yes it was burl. I got it from texasknife they had the picture of the scales so you get a preview of some before you buy them.

Not being a fan of serrations, that's about the only negative I can come up with, but they're very well done. Good combination of materials, and the contrasting spacer material is a nice touch. Can't tell, butted or dovetailed?

I prefer a little more drop at the point, but again, that's just like the serrations - not a true negative, just a preference. Overall, I really like it!

Is the handle tang full thickness, or tapered?

Ya I'm not a big fan of serrations. At least not filing them in the way I did it. This is the third blade as I ruined the first two trying to get the serrations to this point. The bolsters and scales are dovetailed with bolster sitting on top and peened down. The tang is full all the way back. I really like tapered tangs but haven't done any myself yet..Working on the sheath now.

That is a nice knife. Well make and finished.

What I will say in the way of critique is that if it wasn't so busy, it would be a "WOW" knife. The spine bump, multiple curves and different angles, and the triangular projection from the ricasso detract from the knife. If it had clean lines along the style of a drop point hunter it would sell off the table in an hour at any show....for top price.

Thanks for the critiques. That little triangle thing is a result of the knife not coming out the way I drew it as I had to fix so many errors along the way. This shape was a copy of a picture the new owner found and wanted it to look more or less like this. I agree it is pretty busy. Thanks again.
