Hi All,

This is a 12 1/4" 1095 blade with a nice hamon, clam shell nichol s-guard, and a 5 1/2 inch primo sambar stag handle (excluding finial) of wraughtand NS. The spine is 3/16's at the guard with a distral grind. The blade has been progressively sanded up to 2000 grit and polished with 3M polishing papers. Not a true mirror finish, but a nice one. The blade shape is beautifully organic, with a slight upsweep. Hope you enjoy. Input is appreciated.

From what I can tell that is an awesome knife. Please buy yourself a new digital camera for Christmas. It will improve your sales.

Thanks, but can't blame the camera. I keep trying to get better pictures, just don't seem to have the eye for it. I may have better pictures available in the knifemakers gallery. I will work on getting the best pictures I can as this is a very nice knife and I do want to show it in the best light.

Looks nice but yeah you need better photos. For instance, you certainly don't need so much background. Either get closer or crop the photo.

Like others, I thinking that's a very good looking Bowie if we could get a closer look at it.

Kevin,

I know the pictures in my first post are not as good as they could be, but regarding the last two pictures I posted in my follow-on post, well, on my screen they are coming through as clear, in focus, and close up. Did you happen to see those pictures? If not, maybe I should just re-post at a later date.

Hi David, I'm definitely not trying to bust your chops. I guess we are just pretty spoiled considering the extremely nice knife photos we see here everyday from both the pros and some very good amateur photographers.

The last two photos are better but definitely don't do that fine knife justice imo. It's shows just about enough to make one realized that there's some great detail going on which we are not seeing.
For example, I can see you have something cool going with your alternating spacer material but I can't tell what. I can tell you have a stag handle but can't pick up the quality of it. Can't see the detail of your clamshell palms.

I'm a lousy photographer, and get crazy frustrated every time I try to shoot a knife. About 2 out of 10 turn out good enough for me to consider posting on a forum.

It's none of my business, but if I could make a fine knife like that I would send it out for a professional photo. Though it costs, your knife business will definitely benefit from it in the long run.

By the way that blade and blade profile is absolutely outstanding in my opinion.

Thanks for replying, Kevin

I could of course send it out, and probably will once I get the sheath made. But I am frustrated at my inability to take the kind of pictures you are talking about. I'm going to work at it as hard as I do at making knives. Didn't think you were busting my chops, and you will see this knife again, in perfect detail. Oh, and thank you for the remarks on the blade and profile.

David, great looking knife! Nice work, I like that rifle too!

I pass through Delaplane on the way to Richmond several times a year! Beautiful country down there!

Thanks Steve,

Appreciate the nice comments on the knife, the rifle is a 30-30 Deerslayer winchester (extra long barrell) made in 1953. Almost as old as me. I am lucky to live where I do, it is indeed beautiful country.

They sure are, Kevin. I think I'm going to dig up Coop's plans for a lightbox, can't hurt.
