Lauri Leuku 175 Carbon steel blade blank

Carbon Steel - 80 CrV2
60/55HRC ( 60HRC file bites / 55HRC files skates )
175 mm long and 36 mm wide
about 3.2 mm thick
Price $55Aus with free shipping from Nordic Edge .

This is my second blade from NE , the first being the Brisa Trapper in Elmax . ( The blade was a little disappointing due to the edge having micro chips - Im not going to sharpen them out as they only affect paper slicing )

Anyways , this is my 2nd DIY blade .
Plan was to PARA chord wrap the handle .
To this end I glued on some wood grip panels , shaped them & did a para chord wrap .
The knife turned out a little larger than expected ..
But , I kind of like it anyways .
I was thinking of doing a scandi edge , but @ around 11 degrees ? Is it too tight ? I think so ..
I'll just have wet stone grind a fresh edge onto it ..

I really like Lauri blades esp. the PT (progression tempered). Have used a couple dozen of them for puukko and leuku. Also the Polar blades are very nice.

A 450 roll ... on the rope .

Was it a rolled edge or was it a bur ?
Either way , stopped the paper slicing @ 450 ..
A quick and dirty wood strop had the knife slicing paper again .

Knife is a good cutter , but trying to work the spine ( ferro or wood stripping ) is a PITA ..
The spine is twisted all over the place ( out of the mould ? ) .
Anyways , even after grinding the spine the knife is poor on the ferro . ( Cos the spine is just that FUBAR )

The spine of the Lauri blades don't seem to be hardened, can only strike Ferro rods with the back of the tip. Thems the breaks.

That may be the way the blades are tempered; hard edge/soft back -less prone to breakage.
