Just got this one in today.

This one is for KaliGman on the Spyderco forum.

I think this one will be really sweet too. When I get to it the order is for the stainless handles to be removed, and replaced with black and tan G10. Then I will add one of my signiture low rider pocket clips for right hand tip up carry and anodize it a nice khaki color so it blends in with his slacks for some 'urban camo' action.

Just letting you know I got it safe and sound Jon in case you are wondering.

Went ahead and cut these scales out while I had the metal cutting blade on the saw. This is a bit early and jumping ahead on it but it worked out that I could do it since I have another Lava here to use for a pattern. I have not taken this Lava apart yet but when I do I'm on my way to a set of scales for it.

Thanks for the update Steve. I am looking forward to playing with this one. I'll probably have to do a new Lava video on my website once I get it.

KG man I expect to have your folder done Friday and probably shipped home to you by Saturday. I had to order some new barrels today to complete it or I'd be done sooner. Didn't realize until I went to grab some that they were gone. Sorry.

Thats good cuz if those barrels are not on the porch when I get home it may delay things.

KGman I got the barrels but they sent the wrong size. I will have to hope the right ones arrive on Monday. I got my order right before close on Friday but she said she'd drop it in the box on the way home so since they didn't make it here today I will hope for Monday.

Not a problem Steve. Stuff happens. Besides--it's not like I don't have plenty of other knives (including another Lava or two):D. I am looking forward to sending Chad some photos of this one when I send him the video of me putting the MPT fixed blade through its paces. I haven't finished the video yet, so no worries.

Ok the barrels I was waiting on arrived and they are the right ones this time. Progress is going well. KGMan your black and tan G10 Lava is pretty much flawless. Lock up is rock solid. Its very rigid yet light weight. Each scale side is .150 thickness so its plenty to hold onto but still a small package in the pocket. The G10 is slightly heavier than the Micarta ones I've knocked out that hovered at 1.9 oz. This one tips the scale at 2 ounces and 2.1 with the clip on the scale with it. I have the clip made but decided to snap some pics of it before adding the clip to show the new scales better first, well that and its getting late and I wasn't sure I'd have daylight left if I kept working.
The pics are already darker than I was hoping but they show it pretty well I think.

Won't be long now. I'm sure this one will be ready to go out in the mail to you in the morning.

Smooth as silk opening and perfect center on the blade. I'll finish up the clip here shortly and anodize it a light tan color for you. May have to scan it if I don't get done before sun down.

Ok my friend this one is all done. I tried to print two mailing labels tonight for packages I want to mail tomorrow to customers but apparently the USPS web site is down because when I did manage to get to the end to print it kept giving me errors and now it says page not found when I try to even access the print mailing labels page.

I'll try again in the morn and if all else fails I guess I can take em to the PO and stand in line to do it.

We'll see. It is packed up and ready to move out though.

It looks great Steve. It looks like you did a spectacular job. Thanks for all your effort. I look forward to getting it back, seeing it in person, and carrying this one. :D
 
Carry it you will! Its on the way to you as of this mornings mail delivery. So in a few days you'll be using it.

Its flawless. Even if I do say so myself.:D
