which ESEE would you guys consider the best law enforcement knife?

I have a izula and a 4. I have a HEST, 3, and 6 on the way. so this is the list to choose from.

knife would be stored in car door or in bdu pocket, maybe even on tactical vest for swat

also i edc a zt 302 just in case that helps decide

I would say carry the hest. I gave one to my le friend and he loves it. Blade isn't ridiculously long so it fits well in his pocket. Runs thicker than the 3 so is more for utility and even has they pry bar which u probably will need sooner or later.

Really a matter of preference. I would have a hard time choosing between the 3 or 4. If you're patrol I would think a folder would serve you better.

I am not in LE but my son has been for a number of years so I know a little -- but I think that your decision is just like mos, is the rest of us -- it really depends on the intended use. If I were you, I would carry the Izula or 3 on my off gun side so that it is accessible to your weak side hand. This is for general use but also to be available in a gun grab situation.

I think that also the type of area where you patrol can come into play. For example many Deputies patrol a lot of rural area. I knew of a Fl HWP officer who finishes off deer, after car vs deer accidents, with his K-Bar. Firing the firearm results in paper work.

The 5 or 6 (I would select the 5) would be my choice for daily carry in the door of the patrol car.

The 3 or 4 would both work well on the body armor.

Obviously all of this somewhat depends on you SO's policy and enforcement of regulation regarding fixed blades.

My son started as a Deputy Sheriff in a very large department in FL and he is with a federal agency the last few years. Best of luck and thank you for your service.

I always prefered to carry a folder when I worked for the sheriff's department. I never really could find a good place to put a FB.

I would go w/ the izula or the 3mil. I'm an er nurse now but on the ambulance the izula worked well for cutting tasks and as a key to turn on/off the o2 tanks. The 3 was awesome and the glass breaker is a useful feature (its still my edc now).

The 4 get's my vote, I carry a fixed blade on my vest, right behind the rifle mag pouch (so my sling doesn't catch on it and so it's mostly out of sight). I have two sheaths, one for the vest and one that stays on the bat belt (this sheath is also behind the pistol mag pouch so it's accessible to my support hand and stays mostly out of sight). I go for the thicker stock for my fixed blade and thinner for my folder, as the fixed will be used for those tougher tasks. I also place the sheath so I can access it with left or right hand. Let us know what you decide on.

I think the 3 has been ordered and badged by ESEE the most for actual Law Enforcement agencies. You can see some of the badged samples and find a list of the actual LE agency customers on this page. http://www.eseeknives.com/law enforcement.htm

Speaking of which, did anyone else get in on the SWAT magazine 25th anniversary RC-3's that they were selling prior to making the name change to ESEE? If my memory serves, there were 100 each plain edge and 100 serrated produced. I was lucky enough to get one of each prior to them selling out. I no longer see the ordering link for those on the website, so am assuming they are now sold out. I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did, I think the 25th anniversary of SWAT magazine was 2005.

The -6 is really on the table as an edc option? Wow. Your patrol soup is doing to love this. :)

-3 Mil. It would be an easy choice for me. Out of all of them, I believe it to be the most versatile for you. The Izula would be my next choice. It is very handy and it would could be dropped in a cargo pocket and wouldn't print as bad as the -6.

I was thinking about putting my izula behind my taser holster on weak hand side. 3 on my tac vest and prolly put my 6 in my car door

Car door, you need the 5 for extrication/rescue.
BDU pocket, HEST or 3 for general purpose cutting or back-up.
Tac vest, Izula or HEST for something smaller-ish that cuts big, but won't get in the way.

I carry a KaBar TDK on my duty belt, about 10 o'clock.

This topic has weighed pretty heavy on my mind. I still might change my mind but I think I'm going to put the HEST on my vest because they rhyme. Seriously, I am debating the 4 and the HEST as a vest carry option and waiting for the ESEE folder as my EDC.

Stay safe brother it's been a tough year to be a cop!

We do have a dealer around the Indy area. Don't have their contact info off hand but if you will email Patricia she can get it to you.

Sheriff I carry the ESEE 5 on the tactical vest.My needs are a little different because I am a Lieutenant in a prison and only get to carry the 5 when we are deployed on our emergency response team. I always carry it when we are doing a search and recovery mission. We have huge tracks of swamps and woods up here.
