LAWKS: How does it work?

I know some knives in the CRKT and Gerber line have the LAWKS system. I've used my friends M-16 before which had the LAWKS, but couldn't figure out how it worked. How does it actually work? I didn't want to take it apart (since it was his) and can't find any diagrams. I read a description, but I'm still confused. If anybody could explain how it work or give a diagram or something along those lines, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot!

To keep it very simple. When you engage the LAWKS, you are placing material in the path of the liner lock as to not allow the liner lock to disengage. If you engage the LAWKS, it is next to impossible for the liner lock to move over enough to allow the blade to close.:)

Haven't handled one myself, but I think someone (Sergiuz Mitin?) posted a picture of the LAWKS system about 2 weeks ago.

The system rotates around the pivot screw. It's a disc, with one end being the thumb thingie you push, and the other end sliding into the gap between the outer scale and the lock bar. In effect, this prevents the lock bar from ever unlocking, unless you undo the LAWKS.

A crazy thought:

Couldn't someone make the LAWKS a spring-fired system? Sort of like the Microtech Micro-bar. Then the knife would be an automatically engaging liner lock with a backup lock. It might even be possible to do this with a bent piece of metal placed inside a scale cutout. I might mod my knife to do this if I ever get a knife with LAWKS. I can't wait to hear the sound of that baby locking: sna-snap!

Alpha, but that would inconvenient users who were trying to make a small cut and close the knife back quickly.
The LAWKs makes it so that if the liner did come off the ramp on the tang, it will either prevent it from doing so or block it enough so that the liner bounces right back to the original position.
I did a moderate spinewhack on the C/K 3" PE and that's what I saw.

Cool, thanks for the help! I was looking around for a diagram last night and figured it out while reading the description you guys gave.
