My old lawn tractor (AKA - rider mower) is about shot. It needs a carb rebuild and some other work. This morning I decided to just replace it. I have been looking at the Arien Amp, the new electric rider. I have not been convinced that it is worth $3300, which is more than I paid for my first Mustang ($3100 back in 1968), or that it had enough power. The reviews are less than enthusiastic.
I went to look at some mowers, and decided to get an Arien Zoom. This 34" zero turn unit is nice. I just mowed the entire yard in about 30 minutes. It took about 5 min to get the hang of the control arms ( sort of like driving a Bobcat), and it was smooth mowing from there on. I will never get a standard steering unit again.
I think I'll take the deck off the old mower, fix the carb, and use it to pull the dump cart and such.

Congrats on the new mower! Those ZT are sweet. I used to mow my half acre with a push mower, man that was a pain. We bought a Cub Cadet 50" ZT and I cut the yard in about 30 minutes. I love it and so does my wife. She like to ride it and I get to do the trimming with the weedeater.:grumpy: Have fun with that mower!

I covered our front yard in lava rock and left a 3 ft square of grass (my yard) I mow it in 30 seconds
