Can anyone tell me or give direction on finding laws as far as shipping to other states. As a maker shipping to another state is it my responsibilty to know the regs. or is it up to the buyer.Dont want to break any laws..Thank Mike...MLCknives......

The only applicable law for a seller shipping to other states are the federal regs, codified under Title 15, Chapter 29 of the US Code. This set of laws makes it illegal to sell true switchblades (has button in the handle) or so called "ballistic knives" which literally fire the blade as a projectile via a compression spring. It is also illegal to sell these items to the Territories of the United States.

The only thing after that is the individual state law. It is almost always the buyer's responsibility to know the laws of their own state, and it is not your problem unless the state you live in has laws against the possession or sale of the knife you are selling. Such laws against possession or sale are almost always confined to switchblades and ballistic knives, making that moot since the fed laws cover those anyway. I personally have never heard of a law anywhere in the US banning mere possession of any kind of fixed blade knife, sword or conventional folding knife. There are many laws on carry, but as a knife seller that is not your problem because carry specifically requires an actus reas of the buyer to be breached.
