I live in Massachusetts, and i was wondering if there were any laws for swords in my state. I wanted to get a reverse blade katana, and i will do anything to get it. i dont care if i have to get a permit or anything...

Okay, lots to think about but....
I know this sounds trite, but call the local police station and see what they say. Or the county or state legal offices and see what they say for owning.

Sometimes owning vs 'carrying' can be two different laws.

Also one other thing to think about in MA is where you live. In the city of Boston the laws are a bit different then elsewhere in the state.

AND the big one is...who is going to know that you own it. Don't go wielding it in the parking lots or streets and waving it in peoples faces and what does it matter what you have in your own house? hmmm. Freedom of America. Works until someone important with a badge finds out or until you do something bad with it.

Yes, i will call the office, and i did plan to keep it in my house, or train with it in my yard, but i would be getting the sword from a website, so i wanted to know if when it was delivered, the mailman or a cop or somthin would come up and ask if i had a permit for it or somethin.

Also, i live near New Bedford, so its not even close to Boston.

I am not sure how it works for swords in MA. For firearms, in MA you apply to your LOCAL police dept for a permit. Discretion rests with the local chief, although (s)he may have some lower rank be doing all the processing. So where you live is really important.

i live in MA too. i have all kinds of knives and what i've found, at least in my town, is that they really could care less as long as you don't go around flahing it in front of their faces or pull it on anyone. as long as you don't cause any kind of disturbance with it they don't care if you have it.

I also live in Mass. law states the only restriction on blade length is,
if it has a fixed blade with a lenght over 3 1/2" it can not be carried concealed. as long as you carry it in plain sight so that the averege
person recongnizes it as a knife, you can carry it, with the exception of a double bladed knife, these are illegal period.

here's a good sight, search here for knife laws.
